Foil Press Wedding Invitation for a Seattle Spring Styled Shoot
I helped Kaleb Norman James Design with his 1:1 shoot with Alexa Kay Events in February, right before the whole Corona Virus shenanigans happening. Back when we’re more concerned on the right mauve for the whole shoot, having just the right amount texture for this invitation suite, doing light enough watercolor washes so the final set doesn’t come out too pink. Oh, how innocent we all were.
For the invitation suite, I’m going with gold foil press on handmade paper with a clean modern design. Dark grey letterpress on the matching handmade paper for the remaining RSVP and Details cards. Ivory handmade paper envelopes for both RSVP and outer envelopes. Hand-watercolor washes are then applied in various intensity, from a full watercolor coverage on the main invitation card to barely-there-washes on the envelopes. I went with taupe velvet liners to add a little bit of texture and warmth to the suite.
For the place setting, I’m going with dark grey letterpress on ivory cotton paper. They are hand-torn at the top to ties them in with all the handmade paper we’re using in the main invitation suite. Place cards are done on a strip of velvet paper in burgundy color to bring some contrast and ties in the material with the envelope liners. The name itself is handwritten with gold foil using a heat-foiling tool to ties in with the gold on the main invitation card. And as a plus, this tiny strip makes amazing boutonniere tags and makes gorgeous add-ons for the detail photographs. Even did the specialty cocktail menu with the same handmade paper and washes as the invitation suite for this shoot.
I love all the beautiful spring flowers in this shoot. It reminds me to celebrate those sprouting new leaves I can see around my house, especially with the ungodly amount of rain recently in Los Angeles. Although that gorgeous multi-days rain seems to short the fuse on our garage, where our one and only car are stored. Oy vey. At least it happens during the week LA’s mayor told us not to do grocery shopping.
Anywho, I decided to finally update my website and share the gorgeous photographs by Kerry Jeanne Photography. We all need a reminder that spring will come eventually. That we’ll be able to gather and celebrate together again. In the meantime, scroll down for some gorgeous inspirations while planning your big events.
