Custom Invitation Suite and Menu for Stonehurst Editorial

Another thing to be hopeful about for 2021 and beyond for my tiny business, I’m part of an amazing team who got featured at The Knot 2021 Fall Issue! Can’t believe I see my work on a full page in my local grocery store!!! This was the first shoot I did in person with my tiny assistant in tow. Or should I say, tiny boss?

This gorgeous editorial is planned by Michelle from Ellamae Productions. She brings in Joe from Joe Kim Studio for photography, Whit Hazen for floral, and Stonehurst as the location of this shoot.

For this beautiful editorial, I’m featuring a custom suite with custom botanical illustration elements, letterpress cards, black handmade paper, custom green liners with white digital ink printing, a custom printed RSVP envelopes with the same graphic as the liners, and a little touch of gold throughout. I love the organic back flap of handmade envelopes, although they are always a pain to do calligraphy on and each envelope liner needs to be hand-cut to match due to the unique angles from one envelope to another. The graphic for the vellum sleeve is loosely painted over the line drawing after I scan and vectorize the black and white drawings for letterpress. I completed the suite with my Moderne Style Calligraphy in gold ink, curation of vintage stamps, and gold maidenhair wax seals.

I carry the same color scheme and design elements to their menu, bar sign, and gift tag. The menus have black letterpress on duplexed green paper, Moderne Style Calligraphy for the header, and the delicate illustration to separate the guest name from the rest of the menus. This double as their place cards with each guest’s name written in gold. This is a great solution for table setting in windy outdoor reception! The bar menu is using the same illustration and custom calligraphy as the rest of the paper good and is printed with white ink on green paper just like the RSVP envelopes and liners. I went a little extra for the gift tag. Start with printed watercolor of each botanical on cotton paper, top with the same green paper I’ve used throughout, gold ink calligraphy, gold wax seal, and a gold eyelet to finish the punch hole for the ribbon.
