Panna Cotta with Ruby Sauce Recipe

Other than calligraphy, I'm pretty obsessed with sweets and desserts. My cooking skills is pretty limited to sunny side up and instant soups/fried rice but I can make surprisingly good desserts! We're not exactly the entertaining couple especially with the current condition of our dining room, so making product shots of the recipe cards have been a nice excuse to whip up some of my favorites (and hopefully something new).

This time, it's one of the easiest dessert out there, a Panna Cotta! It basically means cooked cream with very little ingredients and so easy to make! If you're one of the lucky few who actually host dinner party regularly, this one will easily impress your guests. Oh, and the ruby sauce require a little red wine so you have the rest of the bottle to enjoy ;) And if you don't know what to do with the rest of the red wine, find a good French Onion Soup recipe.

Panna Cotta (serve 4-6)

Panna Cotta Ingredients

-3 cups of whipping cream

-3 teaspoons of gelatin (agar-agar for vegan option)

-1 vanilla bean

-1/3 cup of sugar

Ruby Sauce Ingredients

-1 cup of sugar

-1 cinnamon stick

-4 oz. of fresh strawberries

-1/2 cup of red wine

-1 cup of water

Directions

-Lightly grease the inside of ramekins or molds. I use good quality plastic cup because they're easier to wiggle.

-Put cream, vanilla bean, sugar, and gelatin in a pan. Continuously stir in medium heat until almost boiling. Pour into molds and chill.

-Add all ruby sauce ingredients into a pan and boil until simmering. Pour the sauce through a sieve to discard the seeds. Cool then chill before serving with Panna Cotta. Garnish with fruits and enjoy! No really, it's that easy.

Let me know what you guys think if you do give them a try and don't forget to check out the watercolor peonies recipe cards!

Much love,
